Texas Section Governing Documents
ASCE's Committee on Geographic Units (CGU) provided new models for Section and Branch governing documents in 2008. Upon the committee's recommendation, the Texas Section Constitution and Bylaws have been completely revised. These revisions correct references to ASCE structure and processes and clarify Section operations (amendment procedures, membership classifications, definition of officer roles, etc.) and provide for consistent numbering of Articles between the documents. Other updates cover essential requirements (tax status, limitations on lobbying, etc.). An additional change to the Bylaws was the inclusion of wording to allow electronic voting.
The Section's Board of Direction adopted revised Bylaws in October, 2009. The revised Constitution was approved by the membership of the Texas Section during the summer of 2009.
The most recent version of the Rules of Operation were approved by the Board of Direction on April 11, 2010.
